Description
“Charlotte Fisher's Reflected Pools form three benches on the upper lawn by the City-to-Sea Bridge. Originally they had been intended to form a triangle with the blue edges facing together. However, at present they are scattered around the edge of the lawn area." (Douglas, p8)
This work could be mistaken just for seating. They sit on the edge of a lawn area to the southern side of the approach to the City to Sea Bridge. The rectilinear monolithic form of the wooden beam has been cut into with gentle, adzed curves. Photographs from the time show these cuts were painted bright blue in contrast to the naturally weathered wood.
Charlotte says of the work: “I referenced Robert Franken's nearby works as well as being a space that once held water.”
