Denis Adam

Emigrating to New Zealand from England in 1947, Denis Adam was the owner of an insurance brokering company and major Wellington art benefactor and collector. With his wife, Verna Adam, he formed a trust in the late 1970s to hold his large art collection so it could be gifted to the city when the couple died. The trust also administered two-yearly art awards and competitions, funding a music competition, the Adam Award, every alternate year.
