Telecom New Zealand

Created from the dissolution of the New Zealand Post Office in 1987. From that time until 1990 the Telecom Corporation of New Zealand Limited operated as a 'state own enterprise', inheriting a substantial number of buildings and the entire telecommunications network of New Zealand.

Telecom was purchased by two United States-based companies, Verizon Communications (formerly Bell Atlantic) and Ameritech, in 1990 and subsequently floated on stock-exchanges in 1991. The company was re-branded as 'Spark' in 2014.
