Napier Girls' High School

Napier Girls' High School (NGHS) was founded on January 29, 1884 with Miss M.E Hewett as its first principal. In 1931, following the Napier earthquake, the school merged with the Napier Technical College, the buildings of which had been destroyed 14 students killed.

NGHS a state secondary school located on Clyde Road, Napier, New Zealand.

In 1960 Rita Angus completed a mural for the school to memorialise the 1931 merger. As this mural is inside and on school grounds, please contact the office to plan a time to visit.
