Description
Bust of Mayor James Colvin.
Inscription reads:
JAMES COLVIN/ MAYOR OF WESTPORT,/1897 TO 1899/ MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT/ FOR THE BULLER DISTRICT,/ 1899 TO 1919/ THIS MONUMENT WAS ERECTED BY THE RESIDENTS/ OF THE BULLER DISTRICT/ IN RECOGNTION/ OF LONG AND FAITHFUL SERVICE TO THE PUBLIC
Engraved on the plinth:
Parkinson Sculptor
Auckland
An information panel installed next to the work reads "This statue was erected and unveiled on Armistice Day, 11 November 1923 by current mayor John Menzies, Member of Parliament Harry Holland, Prime Minister hon. JG Coates."
