    Description

“This sculpture depicting the Virgin Mary with the infant Jesus was created by Robert Nettleton Field. Robert Nettleton Field (1899-1987) was a New Zealand artist, sculptor, potter and art teacher. Field was born in Kent, England and was an influential teacher to Colin McCahon who stated “The painter’s life for me was exemplified by the life and work of R.N. Field.” This work was gifted to the Cathedral by Bishop Peter and Elisabeth Vaughan in 2007. Bishop Peter St George Vaughan was an assistant priest to Dean John Rymer at Holy Trinity Cathedral.”
