Description

Commissioned by Hamilton City Council these pillars celebrated the opening of the Hamilton Central Library by marking the entry on Garden Place. Local ceramic artist, Lynda Harris, hand-painted the tiles to depict landscape scenes of the Waikato including rivers, lakes, and birds. The tiles were made with Abbots White clay.

Only four panels remain after a refurbishment of the building. Some pillars were hidden behind walls when the shop frontages were extended.
