Ten playful and bright colourful abstract textile mural wall hangings, reminiscent of Mattisse’s cut-outs and Kandinsky’s style. Each work has been hung at ceiling height between each second-floor entrance to the main auditorium, and stretches across two levels, spanning both the first and second floors of the building.

These textiles were designed by Gordon Crook and made by Nancy Seaton and others in the early 1980s, along with a set of banners that remain installed in the venue.

The designs for the wall hangings and banners were made of cut-out coloured paper shapes, adhered one over another like a collage, and are held by the Wellington City Council Archives.
