Noel Gregg

b. 1941d. 2016

“A blacksmith by trade, he used his skill to forge an extraordinary life for himself.”

Noel Gregg studied at Lincoln College. After completing a blacksmith apprenticeship he established his own forge on Tuam St, out of which grew the artists' hub: The Artists Quarter.

Receiving both national and international acclaim Gregg's work has adorned the Arts Centre, Mona Vale, Cathedral Square and Christ Church Cathedral.

Gregg moved his forge to Lowe Street, in Addington, before retiring to Twizel. There, for a decade, he continued his sculptural work including completion of a major installation in the village centre.
