Mary Middleditch was a mosaic artist and watercolourist and was artistic adviser to the Globe Theatre in the mid-1970s. She began making glass mosaics after studying the practice in Italy.
Around 1982 she and her husband, John Middleditch the sculptor, moved to Te Awanga on the coast north east of Hastings. There they continued their art practices into late life and built a house.
