Joan Calvert is a self-taught weaver who had been practising for nine years at the time of completing the commission Forest in the Sun for The Beehive. She has exhibited at The Dowse, Academy of Fine Arts and her work is included in the Collections of Te Papa Tongarewa, and The Dowse.
