Joan Calvert

Respected self-taught weaver and fibre artist from Wellington, Joan Calvert was a member of the New Zealand Spinning, Weaving and Woolcrafts Society Inc. She had been practicing for nine years when she won the competition to produce a wall hanging for the new Executive Wing (Beehive) of Parliament. Calvert exhibited at The Dowse, Academy of Fine Arts and her work is including in the collections of both Te Papa Tongarewa, and The Dowse.
