Te Awamutu Beautifying Society

"Beautifying societies and associations, which emerged throughout the country in the late 19th century, were voluntary groups concerned with improving urban environments. Tree planting was a favoured activity, particularly in the early days when most local councils did not have parks and reserves departments." (Pollock)

The Te Awamutu Beautifying Society continued operations into the 20th Century.
