Description
Capital E opened with a significant work by Para Matchitt incorporated into its design: a waharoa representing a flock of birds, which remains within the building.
When commissioned, the work was described as a ‘relief sculptural climbing wall’ as part of the ‘Lifespan’ exhibit.
Para’s son Maia assisted with this work, and another similar work, ‘Bird Gate/Waharoa’, previously installed at the Wellington Central Library.
It has since been dismantled and is in storage.
