Designed to provide a window 'link' to the Art Gallery from Albert Park. Commissioned by Auckland Council to mark Auckland City Art Gallery's centenary in 1988. 'Throwback' is based on an enlarged semi-ciruclar window thrown into Albert Park, posed a precarious angle.

Though commissioned in 1988, the sculpture was completed and installed in 1992.
