Description

According to the Whangarei Sculpture & Art brochure, Reyburn House (1861) is the oldest surviving settlers' house in Whangārei. The building is now home to the Northland Society of Arts. This sculpture commemorates Charlotte (Lottie) Reyburn (b.2 March 1875), the first child born to the Reyburn family in Aotearoa.

Kap Pothan created 'Lotte' over a two-year period when he sculpted the work in-situ at Reyburn House. The piece is carved in distinctive Paradise Sandstone that is characterised by its coloured striation.
