Description

A plaque installed with the work reads: "This mural depicts a traditional legend of how the Gods were created and shows Tānemahuta (Trees and Birds) attempting to push his father Ranginui (Great Sky) and his mother Papatūāanuku (Earth) apart. Initially, his attempt failed until Tānemahuta inverted his position and pushed him up with his feet."

The work is created from carved and stained kauri with inset paua shell.
