Born in Ashburton in 1952, Russell Menary experimented with self-employment via various crafts before settling on Stained Glass and Leadlighting as a vocation. He subsequently spent 25 years producing a range of domestic lighting and private window commissions in New Zealand and Australia. Seeking change, he branched out into Oamaru and Mt Somers limestone carving as a new medium, along with meditation and spiritual influences to process a new direction.
