Ross Wilson

b. 1959d. 2021

Ross Wilson was a sculptor who also operated a bronze foundry supporting other artists in the production of their works.

Though largely self taught in casting, Wilson was mentored by local sculptor Joan Morrell. "With help from Morrell and friends such as Roy Harkness, Wilson achieved his dream of establishing his own home foundry and over the years completed many significant commissions including the statue of Peter Snell at Cooks Gardens with Chris Elliott and the John Plimmer bronze in Wellington with Harkness."

In the 1990s, Wilson moved to Whanganui, tutored at the local Polytechnic and maintained a studio and foundry on Taupo Quay.
