Rob Taylor

b. 1944d. 1996

Rob Taylor was born in Scotland and moved to Aotearoa at the age of 10. Though starting his art training in Dunedin, Taylor travelled to study at the West Sussex College of Fine Arts in 1964-5. Returning to Wellington, Taylor taught art becoming Head of Art at St Patricks College in Kilbirnie in 1973. He also wrote for The Dominion newspaper as an art critic between 1981-1991.

"Taylor was passionate about the Porirua community and in 1997 received a Porirua City Civic award." Pātaka Gallery, Porirua, hosted a memorial exhibition of Taylor's work in Feb-Mar 2021.
