Peter Roche

Peter Roche graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Auckland, Elam School of Fine Arts. His first significant works, a series of performances, appeared in the late 1970s.

Roche went on to explore light-based sculpture, exhibiting new work consistently. He was included in the first Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (Brisbane) in 1993 and also the first Korean Biennale of Contemporary Art in 1995.

Roche completed several large commissions including 'Coral' overlooking Fort St (1999, Tāmaki Makaurau) and 'Saddleblaze' (2011) at the Gibbs Farm on the Kaipara Harbour.
