Morgan Jones

b. 1934

Morgan Jones immigrated to New Zealand from Surrey, England when he was 21. He settled in Canterbury, attending the Christchurch Teachers’ Training College between 1958 and 1959.

Jones began making large scale wooden sculpture in the mid-1960s and is considered a leading artists of his generation. He is particularly recognised for his innovative use of 'rural vernacular' forms.
