Malcolm Doidge

After completing his studies at the University of Canterbury School of Fine Art in 1984, Malcolm Doidge worked for the New Zealand Correspondence School as an illustrator. He received his first commission from Lincoln College (now University), producing the work 'Ascent' in 1984.

In more recent years Doidge has taught Creative Technologies at Weltec (Wellington) and completed a Doctor of Philosophy, Inside Arcadia: An immersive virtual phantasmagoria. His degree was conferred by Massey University, Toi Rauwhārangi College of Creative Arts, in 2022.

His work has been recognised by several awards including the Wallace Art Award (2004, 2006, 2009, 2013 and 2016), the Visa Gold Art Award (1998) and he was the premier award winner in the NCC Art Award in 2002.
