Dr Rodney Wilson was director of Auckland Art Gallery (1981-1988), Auckland War Memorial Museum (1994-2007) and New Zealand Maritime  Museum (founding Director 1989-1994). Wilson was also a governor of the Arts Foundation of New Zealand from 2002 to 2010. Maureen Wilson was his wife.
